On January 3, 1983, in this episode, J Brown decided to leave his house through the front door, only to see Rod’s ice cream van parked outside with Rod inside singing his usual song. That’s when Mike Carter (one of J Brown's friends) approached the van, wearing a safety helmet and holding an Electro Gun.
Mike angrily confronted Rod, demanding him to release Lis Owens. Rod pretended to be confused, claiming he didn’t know what Mike was talking about. Mike insisted he saw Rod abduct Lis and threatened to fry Rod’s brain with the Electro Gun if Lis wasn’t freed.
Rod sarcastically pretended to be scared before laughing maliciously. He asked Mike if he really thought Rod would remember who Lis was since Rod didn’t even care to remember the names of the children he abducted. Angered by Mike's confrontation, Rod knocked the Electro Gun out of Mike’s hands and grabbed him by the throat, calling him a "foolish boy" and warning Mike that he had messed with the wrong person.
Rod was initially frustrated that Mike wasn’t fat enough to be of any use to him, but then Rod got an idea. He made Mike eat one of his special ice creams, causing Mike to collapse on the road. Initially confused, Mike wondered why Rod gave him the ice cream. However, he found it delicious. Determined to "destroy" Rod with his Electro Gun, Mike realized in horror that he was getting fatter due to the ice cream’s secret ingredient. Panicking, he tried to escape, but Rod caught him and froze him, eventually abducting him. J Brown witnessed the whole event while hiding behind his front door.
He managed to rescue his friends, but in the end, Rod had already caught on to their plan and captured all three of his friends.

GRAPHICS
The graphics are somewhat mid-tier; the immersive feel of being inside the game isn’t quite there. The character’s movement is rather stiff and comical. There’s a bit of 3D, but it doesn’t feel too cartoonish.
STORYLINE & GAMEPLAY
Lis Owens, Charlie Owens’ sister, still hasn’t been fully rescued by Rod Sullivan, as she couldn’t muster the courage to jump out of Rod’s van when J Brown unlocked her cage.
Angered by this, Mike Carter, who secretly harbors feelings for Lis, rushes at Rod to demand what’s rightfully his.
However, Mike Carter is no match for Rod and gets captured! As usual, J Brown keeps strategizing and explores every map—Neighborhood, Stall, Circus, Metro Station, Shopping Center, and Camping—to uncover Rod’s mystery and save his friends.
They enlist the help of Lis Owens’ brother, Charlie Owens, but to their surprise, Rod has already figured out their plan to rescue Mike Carter.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Explore the entire map: Each map contains its own puzzles. Always stay aware of your surroundings.
- Items aren’t always in drawers: When looking for items, don’t just search drawers. Items may also be on top of cabinets, tables, kitchens, and more. Pay close attention!
- Chain puzzles: To solve puzzles, if you feel lost and unsure of what to do next, check the puzzle button (top left corner). For your information, Ice Scream 1: Scary Game puzzles are chained, meaning you must solve one puzzle before moving on to the next.
- Store items in the van: Every item you obtain, whether you’ve used it or not, should be stored in Rod’s ice cream van, as you might need it later!

The gameplay and puzzles are quite interesting in my opinion.
The only thing I didn’t like was when I had to find the key to get up to the Tree House. I had to dig through every piece of dirt, and as luck would have it, I found the key in the last spot, hidden deep in the bushes.
While searching, I thought it was a bug because I couldn’t find the key despite digging through all the dirt. It turns out the game randomly placed the key in the most hidden and furthest dirt pile.
For your information, the items are placed randomly in different locations. So, as you’ll see in my video, when you play it yourself, the item you’re searching for might be in a different place.
So I recommend checking your surroundings carefully—whether it’s above or below, including on top of objects like crates, stoves, etc.!
